Theodore Roosevelt National Park · Elkhorn Ranch Unit
Eight stops along a 0.7-mile path to the riverbank where his house stood. A live map and compass lead you to each one.
There is no cell service at the ranch. Save the guide while you have signal.
The guide works like a map app. It needs your phone's location and compass to show where you are and point you to each stop.
Your phone will ask, "Allow elkhornguide.labs.trlibrary.com to use your location?" Tap Allow. On iPhone, leave Precise turned on, or the guide can't tell when you reach a stop.
iPhones ask separately for "motion and orientation". That is the compass. Tap Allow so the arrow can turn with you.
Your location is used on your phone to place you on the map. The Library does not receive or keep it. You can turn it off any time in your browser settings.
If you tapped Don't Allow, your browser won't ask again on its own. Here is how to switch it back on.
